Having taken almost 400 photos yesterday during our Magnetic Island tour, today was mostly sat at the laptop working on photos. In addition to a repeat performance from Tobias in the evening, the entire entertainment staff hosted an afternoon atrium concert.

Navigation
Since departure Townsville, we have steered various courses following along the North Queensland coastline. We often saw land on the port side and occasionally we also saw islands to stb’d. Since departure Townsville, we have steamed 310 miles at an average speed of 17.7 kts. We have 320 miles to Thursday Is, requiring a speed of 17.3 kts.
Since departure London (Greenwich) on the Ultimate World Cruise, this ship has steamed a total of 40, 455 miles.
Weather
Cloudy skies with occasional showers. Winds have eased to light airs from the NE, at about 10 kts.
Meals
Today’s special meals:
- World Cafe (12:00 – 14:30) – Cobb Salad
For dinner this evening we met up with Jay & Jill, an older couple from Illinois that we have dined with before. They requested a table on the Stb’d side, so we didn’t have our usual waiters tonight. Unfortunately, I forgot the camera again. My dinner was entirely seafood, with Tiger Prawn starter and 3 types of crab for main course. The crab was excellent – King Crab legs, crab croquette and crab in a slightly spicy sauce.
Activities
Headed up to Dk 8 by 05:30 and never saw another person until I started stretching at 07:00. Guess I missed the memo that it was walkers day off.
Having taken almost 400 photos on yesterday’s tour, I spent every spare minute at the laptop processing the images and keeping the best ones. Managed to get the number reduced to about 130. However, I did attend the 11:00 lecture from our new resident Astronomer – Charles Armstrong. Excellent lecture detailing the plans for returning to the moon.
Trivia – we were still on a high from the previous winning score of 13/15. Going higher is always tough, especially considering some of the questions, so today we regressed to 11/15.
At 16:00 we had a repeat of the Atrium concert series with Bevan, Manny and 4 vocalists. Didn’t know too many of the songs, so couldn’t sing along, but it was a great show.
This evening’s show was a repeat performance from Tobias, one of the vocalists. A powerful singer, who puts on an exceptional show. After the show we headed to Torshavn, meeting Alison & Ron, then Tobias & Bevan joined us briefly.
As another day closes, we bid you farewell, till tomorrow and hope for fair skies and following seas.
Is the weather and choppy seas typical of the area this time of year or because of our changed climate it is worse? Is it better or worse than you expected?

This is Cyclone season and wet season in Northern Queensland, so the weather is about what I expected. The earlier Pacific crossing was rougher than anticipated. Tasman was about as expected.
