It is the Friday of a long weekend, so we planned to overnight no more than 200 miles from Chicago, so we could be heading through by Noon, or early afternoon at the latest. Fortunately, this was one of those plans that actually worked rather well, with an uneventful and speedy transit through the “Windy City.” Today we pass through three States on our cross-country sojourn.

RV Production Line – Sneak Peek
The Rally highlight for most attendees is probably the factory tour on the Saturday morning. Being the weekend, no production is taking place, which permits us a detailed look at the production line, without getting in the way. If you want to view the production process, tours are available upon request.
Redwood RV Rally at Shipshewana, Indiana
One of our objectives on this extended trip around North America is to attend the annual Rally hosted by Redwood RV, the manufacturer of our house on wheels. Although the Rally was only a few days, we decided to stay at Shipshewana South Campground for a week to recharge the batteries after driving across country.
Shipshewana, Indiana – The Great Beer Hunt !!
As a frequent visitor to Maui, our first stop is always Costco to load up with groceries and drool at the extensive selection of beers. Enroute to Shipshewana we stopped at a Chicago Costco, but they only had about 1/2 an isle of beer and it was all that yellow stuff, some of it was even labelled “Lite”. Imagine No real beer, no way I am wasting money on that stuff, so I’ll have to go shopping when we get to Shipshewana.

We Survived Chicago – Barely !!
Since leaving Metro Vancouver we have either navigated through the mountains or across miles and miles of flat prairie landscape. Yes, we did pass Calgary, but the ring road is literally around the furthest reaches of the suburbs.
Well today is different – we have to survive the hustle and bustle of Chicago. How did we make out?
